A Ghost In Vanity's Mirror

A Ghost In Vanity's Mirror

A Poem by The Rock And Roll Cowboy(REBEL WITH A CAUSE)
"

Inspired while reading This Is Gonna Hurt by Nikki Sixx

"

I feel at home

being invisible

in this alley

of circus freaks.

Where the horror

of a clown

is transparent

through his

painted on smile

and the beauty

of a w***e

is crystal clear

in her eyes.

The holes in

the knees

of my jeans

shows how much

I’ve grown.

The apertures

in my shoes

are the gifts

that let my roots breath.

A black alley cat

crossing my path

is ten times as lucky

as the blood stained

rabbit’s foot

you’ll take to your grave.

I consider myself lucky

that I can’t afford a mirror

cause without a reflection

to get in my way

I can clearly see

the whole truth.

that let my roots breath. btw breathe not breath sweetie.

The analogies in the above lines are brilliant. The ending clever. Good stuff my friend.

Very good poem I love the last lines of the poem. They capture the essence of the entire poem. From the costume makeup that a "clown" wears to the w***e's crystal clear eyes. A mirror doesn't show us who we really are sometimes but what outside forces have made us to be. The truth of ourselves lies beyond the mirror. Lovely poem

Yes and those mirrors aren't needed, for we all too often see with the eyes and judgement and not the heart, the heart is where truth is seen/felt...it is to live the dream and see all as equal and find balance, gorgeous piece xoxo

My goodness, a sharp, no, more like *abrasive* poem from the knight takes a swipe at this or that who .. and how powerful it is, regretfully so. Mirrored thoughts reflected for our benefit, as well as yours.

An edgy read, metaphors are intricate and raw. Great write!

The world is a circus and sometimes people are the clowns. People can get really screwed up in this world. What lies beneath can be unattractive and scary to say the least so the mask or the false self-perception does its work to sustain them. If they could see themselves as they really are I wonder how frightened they'd become. This was a really good poem and I hope I was close in my evaluation.

hmmmm, fierce words; great metaphors....the word w***e left a bad taste in my mouth; there's a more creative and eloquent way to say that - :)
