One Less Zero

One Less Zero

A Poem by Debby Carlson

Zero.
The number of me
without Christ.
Null, void, non-existant.
Oblivious to all.

I would have to die
to find life; be reborn
in the Savior's arms.

I would have to allow my heart
to count the stars,
feel His power and know
each one
He made without flaw.

Only then will zero lend itself
to the addition of one.
One Christ, one new life,
one less
Zero to fall.
