In My Arms Once More

In My Arms Once More

A Poem by Deborah Leah Krempa

If I could hold you, in my arms once more

No one knows how wonderful that would feel

My darling young man, to hold you close to my breast

You'll never know how much it hurt, not to be able to

Arms that have been left so empty & barren

Robert, I miss you so much, the hurt is so painfully deep

My darling son, I love you

Once upon a time, there was a little boy who looked up to me

Now I look to the sky & I ask God questions of why?

Can't he see this hole in my heart, as it bleeds?

Evenings come as I listen to the deafening silence in my house

My dear son, it's so lonely without you here

Oh, how I wish I could hold you in my arms, once more

Robert, I love you

Eternally...

What depth of grief you must feel - he looked up to you and no doubt wondered and now you also look up in a wonder filled with such painful questioning it must challenge faith. How can we ever understand such a loss? I can't rate poems that are so deeply personal, it's never fair to do so, but the 'looking up' is where the power of the poem is for me and I wonder if that is a theme you might follow.

Sad, but a beautiful poem!

This is so lovely and real. The emotion you feel towards the subject is certainly conveyed in a way that really hits home. It is both sad and beautiful, making it desperately appealing.

The depth of your love is beautiful and profound. The words stir such emotion.. the loss.. the grief.. the lasting scar that still shows. May you find some comfort inside you.

That has to be the saddest thing in the world to have to deal with. My prayers are with you.

I can't, even with this very clear poem in front of me, understand the depth of grief you feel but I honor it - and you - deeply.

This is a heart breaking story.
When your heart is breaking in lonliness for
your wonderful son, please remember that
you have your personal Angel now.
He was the U. S. Marine ? That puts him at
the right hand of God. Their lives are devoted
to fighting for those who are unable to fight for
themselves----that makes them God`s special people.
