Preserving the Balance

The balance in life has to always be maintained...

Life and death prevail

In an ever continuous circle.

One life for another life, it is said-

For we must give in order to take.

There must be an equilibrium.

 

But who decides what is right and wrong?

Who is the ultimate decision-maker?

Certainly not us humans!

 

The decision-maker is one

That not all believe in,

That not all trust

And one we try to manipulate again and again

For our own nefarious whims.

 

He is our creator -

The giver and taker of our souls,

The one who helps in maintaining the balance

Of not just humans, but of all living beings

Fauna and flora alike.

He gives equal respect to all living beings and things

And maintains a tight balance

Though humans don’t always make it was for Him,

With our wars, violence and killings -

Our need to inflict pain on others "

Flora, fauna, and people alike.

 

Our creator goes by many names

And many guises

In many cultures

And can multiply Himself to represent different forms

That leads up to the same meaning.

Humans worship Him in different forms,

Through prayers, rituals, and thankfulness.

 

But humans also fear Him

And try to get away from their fate

And run away from the truth.

Many don’t believe in Him

And some don’t want to think about it.

 

 

But there is a universal truth involved,

That maintaining the equilibrium is not our job

But is still kept

As it always has been

And always will be.

And the one to preserve the balance is universally called as

God.

It's been a really long time!
This poem really came on me like a tonne of bricks after reading a morally uplifting story, and watching the movie of the same story. (Both are really good in their own ways).
