Hello, I know we've never met
But I and my friends had a bet
That the first to talk to you
Will be to us a kind of guru.
Perhaps you're wondering why!
It's cos we're a bunch of guys shy.
A gust of hibiscus flavoured breeze blows by
Every time you pass my house.
So, I've noticed how bright your eyes are
Your head, you hold high
Completely unashamed of the scar
That runs from your leg to who knows, your thigh?

Anyway the thing is, lately
There's been a vacant look in your eyes
As if the things you used to see,
You see no more.
Your lips move in gibberish
I can tell from afar,
Modesty prevents me from blowing my trumpet
But I'm kind of good at lip-reading.
Your thought process is in hugger-mugger
You move from English to Latin
To German and back to English
Saying ABC one place and QUI in another
The most consistent word I've read
On your lips these days is death.

Dear strange girl, why would you want to die?
I know what's going on in the country,
I live in it too,
But I've seen you pass by with a Bible once or so
To be honest, I focused more on your manicured nails
And only saw the Holy-Book by chance.
I think it says in there somewhere
That your Lord will make a world for you
Within this disturbed world.
Are you tired of believing him?
Is that why "tod" is on your lips so much?
I know I can't stop you if you're determined
But pretty strange girl,
My father is rich, and he's given me an inheritance
It's large enough to take care of your family and I
What do you say, you live for them
And make them smile?
Because after you've given to others
It'll be given to you as well.
I hope I haven't been too late in penning this effusion
Because just last night I saw many people gathered at your doorstep
Or has it now become your former home?
