Writers should stand by their work no matter what

Poets always stand by your work
Difficult though that can be
Baby knows what he's talking about
He posted Little Eve

I also posted Hookers and Crack
and a few other colorful rhymes
I'm sure pissed off many a viewer
who thought me a bag of slime

Though poetry is an artistic form
as such it is subjective
Does it only have artistic merit
If it's heavy and reflective

Did sir mix a lot pen high art
When he wrote Baby Got Back
Or is it just an embarrassment
to admit you like that track

Should we study all the classics
To fill our knowledge gap
All I know are marching chants
and old school gangsta rap

Take some classes from professors
Who published some piece of crap
Hey the old fart got some tenure
Bragging rights to flap his yap

Stay at home online study
With some bullshit university
Spend your time and money
on that liberal arts degree

So now your writing is top shelf
You may find this quite absurd
When you write offensive rhymes
You stand by every word

Some will tell you you're a genius
You know that's a bunch of s**t
You know you wrote an ugly poem
It's your work you stand with it

You are what you write on the WC
      That much is just a fact
So boys and girls I got no regrets
For Little Eve or Hookers and Crack

Thoughts are just that. We all think and have thought things considered—by our society's filter—to be immoral, unethical, racist, etc.

There are things I won't say to a person. I respect all people, however; there is nothing I won't put down on paper. Initial thoughts are energetic and best describe the truth of a moment.

Sometimes it's not the flavor of the piece but the honesty, heart and guts that goes into it...if you show me your soft underbelly or your true nature, then I'm so there, would rather read a risque piece of poetry (at least it's food for thought) than something that's insincere....good on you!
