Ice House of Broken Gears

Ice House of Broken Gears

A Poem by Baby Ricochet
"

Frustration

"

My body's bloated on the tide
           Rivers of bloody tears
My lungs are choking on Chloride
       Ice house of broken gears

Push my body to the marrow
         Expending all my years
     Living lies with no tomorrow
     Ice house of broken gears

Broken down to a credit score
        What life means to me
I'm nothing but a paycheck w***e
        This life is failing me

 Constructing damaged alternates
       Running on angry fears
    Frustration always incubates
    Ice house of broken gears

  Thrown to corrupted legal men
           A jury of my peers
    Prosecutors unleashed again
     Ice house of broken gears

   Dragged into a broken system
     designed to make me pay
     Turning me into a victim
    They took my pride away

Always running the tilt a whirl
   Sick clowns with ugly leers
Watching life sink down a swirl
   Ice house of broken gears

Great poem. There was a wonderful lecture by a woman named Dr. Clarissa Pinkola Estes - the lecture was called "The Boy Who Married an Eagle." In the lecture she speaks about how men are treated in this culture as if they do not feel, but men have all kinds of feelings; all kinds of hopes and dreams. Men in this culture are taught to work themselves to the grave. And now women are too in addition to raising children. This is a marvelous poem. Very brave and eloquent.

This is an excellent poem depicting our modern condition. We grind ourselves to powder and blow away leaving the space for the next piece of machinery to turn in this great god damn cog of life.

no problem, I think you deserve it because you have great direct writing skills.
' Broken down to a credit score ~~ What life means to me ~~ I'm nothing but a paycheck w***e ~~ This life is failing me ..'

Ouch but how painfully true! What an extraordinary post, such a bitter tone yet written with enormous skill. Makes fragility quake in its shoes, need to run for the hills or go find a cave in the middle of somewhere lost. Life competes with itself, bureaucracy dilutes all sense of pride and hope, ethics barely exist. And apart from that rant from me, there's probably a real reason for writing such a powerful piece, or, are you merely an inspired poet!

SPOT ON! What a wonderful piece of artistry!!! You are very talented... I can not say enough about how much In I love this poem and what you are conveying! The title is very intriguing, but the body of the piece supports the title and is relatable - a classic - well done! I will be posting my poem, Credit Crunch, in a couple of days-has a similar tone to your poem. Thank you for sharing.

Credit Crunch is up! Thanks again!:)
It was the title of this piece that intrigued me. Ice House of Broken Gears. What could that possibly mean? Well now I know, life in the modern, industrial world. They've managed to strip away everything that was once important to us, our sense of identity, our privacy, our pride, and reduce us to numbers on a punch card. Modern technology has aided them in this, we no longer have anywhere to call our own. The frustrations of modern life, now expressing themselves in a phenomenon like road rage. Corporate and judicial greed put the cap on it, which is why I fled to the countryside, many years ago.
