Mirrors

Mirrors

A Poem by dillonjensen
"

Empathy runs deep in broken people because they understand.

"
It's a shame she doesn't even know
Barely recognizes who she is
And what she looks like
You see
She had this vision with big dreams
Late nights with good people
Sunset dinner parties
And drinking underneath a sky full of stars
She spends two hours doing hair and makeup
But she can't even look at herself in the mirror
She wears a different mask depending on who is around
Always trying to fit in and be liked
When she doesn't even like herself
Nobody got to see the real her like I did
The corny jokes and big laughs
The tears after a heartbreaking movie
The way she nervously smiled when I tried flirting
She wanted to be a star
But didn't take time to reflect that to me she already was
