Sand

Sand

A Poem by Audrey Howitt
"

A poem about . . .

"

Wave crashes upon wave

In the blackness of the ocean

Relentlessly pulling sand from under my feet

Unsteady toes dig deeper gaining purchase

How like my heart . . .

ooo that the waves can just sweep you off of your feet - to dig in deeper and hold on - like a heart in the face of adversity and trial - nice!

So vivid, so real, for such a short piece. Beautifully written.

The very first word that comes to mind is: Yearning, as is the sand in its travels in time. Great.

Vivid imagery in such few words. Coincidentally, yesterday, I was thinking of this very theme of waves' undertow pulling the sand from beneath my feet causing me to flail into the deep waters of trance.

Beautiful writing, Audrey.
