In a Place That Time Forgot

In a Place That Time Forgot

A Poem by Audrey Howitt

I look at you and wonder

Will we touch again?

Can we rush toward each other

In the foment of early morning or

In the stillness of midnight?

Frozen in time,

Chilled by years,

Forgotten in the onslaught of life,

Lies fertile in me.

Gather me.

Wash me again in whispers that cascade

Like drops glistening on translucent skin,

That I may drink in the fullness of love made new

In a place that time forgot.

Time and life can pull people apart but true love will bridge the space that time forgot and bring them back together. A very heartfelt poem.

I have read that passionate love lasts from three weeks to three months. What it transforms into depends upon who is doing the loving; but always there is the look back in longing to passionate times perdu.
'Gather me' I found to be an extremely powerful phrase. It is something that I believe most of the human race look for until chilled years become frozen years.
If a poet's role is to illustrate the huiman condition via a new juxtaposition of common words: you have succeeded greatly.
Well done.

A hidden treasure in this gentle longing piece, Audrey. There's passion meshed with deep and lasting love - rare, yet utterly precious. When you find it, please, let me know about that place that time forgot.

Beautiful, ' .. Gather me. ~ Wash me again in whispers that cascade ~ Like drops glistening on translucent skin, .. '

Sad and sweet and sensual.
Imagery and lyrics are, as always, impeccably crafted; infused with beauty.
Excellent and endearing, Audrey.
