Untitled Number One

Untitled Number One

A Poem by dominicj
"

This is my first attempt at poetry, so please do your worst.

"
My heart beat unsteadily
Our words all felt slurred
But in those last moments my mind seemed deterred

The ways the moon shone
Cast a dastardly tone
But my eyes seemed to race without care

The spectrum of light
On that austere autumn eve
Bounced with all of its might
Off the smiles"and frowns"I’d receive

I failed to comprehend
How I could ever just pretend
And how I could respond genuinely

Her smile spoke for seconds
But her eyes searched for days
The hope that I hoped was lost in her gaze

It had been love at first sight of mind
It took me years after to unwind:
The girl I never stopped loving, would never be mine.
