The Love That Even the Angels Could Not Forbid

The Love That Even the Angels Could Not Forbid

A Poem by Doroteja Tia Tolic

The fog fall on the lake

As I take my last breath

A trail of roses at my feet

As I slowly awake

I remember your smile, your eyes, your voice

Telling me : "I love you"

It was 60 years ago

And to stay with you was my choice

I felt Death coming for me

Short after you were gone

It couldn't part our souls for so long

So it took me underneath our favourite willow tree

Remember those days when we were just a couple of kids

We never knew how fragile a heart could be

Or how one's soul can become entangled with another's one

The love that even the Angels could not forbid

The rain fell harder the first time you broke my heart

All the mists of Highlands fell upon the land

My breath taken away from me

Like I was pierced with a dart

Few years down the road you were still here

That's when I realised I wanted no one else

That's when I realised you truly do love me

Then you slowly faded away my dear

This is so very beautiful. A wonderful feeling of eternal love is spun perfectly through your words. Very nicely done.
