One Day Man

one day I'm gonna get it right...

One Day Man

 

there is a day ahead of me

anticipated longingly

when I will be the man I should

without the bad and all the good

when I will fulfill all my dreams

and silence all my spirit’s screams

lay hold on all eluding me

possess horizons that I see

one day...but not today

 

one day I’ll do all that I can

to give...to take all that I am

come through on every promise made

see every debt I  owe be paid

one day, I’ll every wrong make right

and when I do, I’ll sleep at night

pay all my taxes...all income claim

do what I should...and take the blame

one day...but not today

 

one day achieve potentially

the fruit of promise filling me

reach out and grab the golden ring

that life’s been always offering

I’ll hold that woman always loved

the one that fits me like a glove

who stood by me...forgave...ignored

I lied to her...caroused and whored

one day...but not today

 

one day I‘ll be the poster man

of doing all in life one can

I’ll live my life...retain my looks

I’ll make it right...with balanced books

I’ll cross the “T’s” and dot the “I’s”

have answers for the “When’s?” and “Why’s?”

I’ll live a full life ...end my days

without regrets...just accolades...

one day...but not today

 

I’ll hit my stride...be on a roll

get my blood sugar in control

be all I should with all my might

wise as an owl who owns the night

I’ll love my family, fools and friends

redeem the gold at rainbows end

I’ll say to God, “I’ve done my best...!”

“Well done!” He’ll say. ‘...come in and Rest!”
