Destroyer

Destroyer

A Poem by Diana

The monster got ahold of me.

It tore into my flesh.

Tooth and bone.

Bone and nail.

Ravaged to the core.

For the monster,

it’s got ahold of me.

And it won’t let me go...

Lusus naturae.

Oh what have I become.

Reading this, it gave me the definition of Depression. It's a monster that comes at any time, grabbing hold of you, destroying every part of you. It's not an easy battle for many, but we all have our ways to cope and make it through. Your words are powerful and telling.

I do not believe you have become a 'freak of nature'; just a victim of a cruel twist of fate! Your short poignant piece projects a seed of hope, as by just sharing your emotional envelopment, you have identified an issue, that with support, you will overcome - sending you a smile as my contribution - :-)

I appreciate the support and the read. Thank you!
This does seem like one of those poems for many interpretations. I like the shortness of it and the abrupt and macabre ending.

Thank you. Macabre, an aptly-penned description.

There seem to be so many "monsters" out here - which of the many has visited upon you?
