"Happy" Holidays

All I want for Christmas is a bullet to the head;
'cause while you're all busy living,
I just wish that I was dead.

Christmas is a time of joy, though I can’t help feeling sad;
maybe it’s my broken heart,
or the scumbag I call “Dad”.

The colored lights that run the streets have gotten much too bright for me;
I’ve gotten used to all darkness
that has slowly swallowed me.

"Merry Christmas to all, and to all a good night";
I know I won’t get what I want,
but s**t, it was worth a shot.

I enjoyed this and am not bothered at all that it's a sad poem. So many people feel this way throughout the holidays and I have heard that this is the time of year when suicide rates are the highest. I like the pun at the end and the ironic title. You don't even really need the quotation marks but they do help with the bitter tone of the narrator. You did well.
