Mirrors Shall Never Live

Mirrors Shall Never Live

A Poem by df

Sometimes when you look in the mirror
you see beauty, you see intelligence
You realize you see it all but sheer terror

So you raise your arm, raise your hopes
to reach out for the magnificence you seek
as you watch yourself on the opposite end

Your fingers touch the icy glass and you watch it shatter
your hand reaches out to hold yourself on the other end
You other self reaches towards you symmetrically

So you slowly close your eyes and feel someone holding on
someone grasping on to your hands
A mirror no longer stands and as you open your eyes

You understand that it was never you
But the love that never grew

. how true ... maybe it wasn't even love ... but instead a powerful and meaningful lesson on what it's not ...

"You understand that it was never you
But the love that never grew"

{interestingly surreal poem--a nice take on the mirror image concept-love it}
