Longing

In populations 
of wildflowers and ferns,
dazzling arrays of scents
flood my nostrils,
curl my toes,
and lift my chin skyward.

Before the high
begins to set it,
focus is what I find
longing breaches desires
an amaranth unveils
dutifully covered beauty
