A Poem by Aisha Mnd

An empty oyster,

I fool the visitor,

as he opens the shell,

eyes alight in hunger,

in hopes of find the luminous pearl,

but only vacancy greets him.

A flowerless vase,

my buyer searches for the

most delicate array of blossoms

to fill my innards,

but all hope is lost when he returns thwarted.

A cavity within

an emptiness beneath my skin

Don't leave. Breathe into me

and kindle some of your light.

Please.
