nature 1A Poem by h d e rushinfor evalinewhen the cats tore the robin's nest from atop the electric meter from the back of the house and ate the chicks then sat comforted below the pear tree which had, what my uncle said, looked like a billion blossoms. Then i'm thinking that if the pear tree produced a billion pears what with mother forgetting the sugar content of the preserve recipe in 2018, then Darwin was right. Right about nidicolous nest dwelling. Right about the ethos of poems or the blue gnats in his beard. Right about how the trans girls always sit together comparing scars. One says of her breast augmentation, how one breast is lower than the other. The others nod. Free us oh Lord, from what looks like natures selection that is not at all. Just hunger or a kind of naked vision. Or how old age is analogous to virtue. Or how a pear tree with a billion blossoms, may topple over after a hard rain and kill the cats...
