creatures between mountains

creatures between mountains

A Poem by dukovan

Buzzing from Japan drifts easts
my guess:
A half physical, half meta-physical cloud of electric gases
caused by the heavy lighting of Tokyo
drifts through the portal of mountains, their very dynamics changed,
and out across the Pacific, disintigrating and reintegrating
become gas then steam then smoke.
Pockets of energy we can't understand release from the surface of the salty ocean
the birds avoid them
the electrical cloud meets them, secrets of biology cling in the moisture
the passage of time secretes iridescence
as it shimmers its way to the coastline
Mountains like magnets bring in the reinstated bio-technological phenomenon
as white cascades of jewels each uniquely give expression and form then vanish forever
I'm sitting here watching the snow through a window
It's rare, I hear
I imagine jewel encrusted crustaceans,
on white sandy beaches
as royalty of the sea
melting somewhere in between the slips of eternity
and solidifying in another
constantly
Sometimes you get to actually see these things
They're pretty weird

I particularly like writing that straddles the fence on two widely-disparate ideas. All the while, I could not tell if you were referring to something you actually experienced or if you were describing an imaginary possibility as yet unknowable perhaps. Another juxtaposition about your writing here is how you use both technological geeky ramblings combined with lyrical poetic expressions. This might be the poster child for not falling into any particular genre! Your writing refuses to be pinned down, but I did mostly think of it as how there are energy patterns we have not defined (we humans who think we know it all & can measure it all) and who knows, Japan might actually be sending us energy patterns we cannot even fathom! (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie
