Sand

Sand

A Poem by dukovan

So if you want to disappear quietly
Marry me in your dreams
Sands of time and castle shadows
Melting off the scales

And the drama finally got to you, started playing an actual part
A character emboldened in shame
Its not who you hoped you'd be yet

For a while, this is eternity
A conversation with your meaning
Stacked against mountains in every direction
Home doesnt exist like it did

Instead it melts and recasts as memories, edited
Remastered classics that you can tell your children someday

I'm not sure about trying to interpret your poem, but I'll take a stab at it. I get the feeling that this is a caustic sarcastic statement about marriage, as if it's bound to head in a less-than-positive direction, but it's what people do & what people expect, so what the hell? Why not join the hoards? Me being unmarried all of my 64 years, I'm inclined to read your poem as a snarky bid to be miserable like everyone else who's married, as opposed to the other possibility, which would be to read your poem as a fun & kidding way of saying, why not let's marry, it can only make life more complicated, but it might change us & we might end up okay or maybe even evolved! (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie
