Make Up Your Mind

this poem is about my aunt and how she can't seem to keep a boyfriend. I found it in a pile of homework in my room and decided to post it.

Migrating every month,

Having to start over numerous times,

Because her boyfriend broke up with her,

For the thousandth time.

 

I am in her custody,

So I must pay for her choices.

It is not fair,

I leave my life behind because she's scared,

And can't face her exes.

 

I have been the new kid an unfathomable amount of times,

I've been alone most of my high school career,

Because my peers have been friends since kindergarten,

And refuse to let any outsiders in.

 

I love her,

She's an amazing woman,

She took me in when no one else would,

But I hate her.

 

I hope Seattle is as nice as Seb-Town.

Author's Note

a friend of mine said my aunt reminds her of the movie "The Perfect Man", that's the only reason why I have the picture up.

and Seb-Town is my nickname for Sebastian, Florida :)

I really like this. It's really good how you've convayed the emotions of loving you aunt 'cause of what she's done for you but disliking how your constantly getting uprooted 'cause of her being unable to face her exes. And your friend's right it does sound like the film "The Perfect Man". Good write =)

I've known loads of people like this, they find someone brilliant, then decide that they can find someone even better. then they lose both people in the end.
it all comes down to having to be satisfied with what you've got. everybody has flaws.

you get your frustration across well.

But if you look on the bright side,

and maybe make new friends.

I personally think the last group of words are the most powerful,
"I love her,

But I hate her."

Yes, this is like "The Perfect Man". Many people are afraid of love and choose to run away from it, rather than face it...in which is a thing people NEED to learn, if they want to learn to live together. As people say, "love makes the world go round", but love could also destroy the world in a way.
Can't describe that at the moment, but message if you would like an explanation for it. But anyways, I am a person who fears falling in love because it is an emotional rollarcoaster. And I, would not choose to run from it. I face anything that apporaches me.
