Yesterday's Call

Yesterday's Call

A Poem by Eddie Davis
"

A simple poem to reflect the jumbled mind of a man who feels like has passed him by. The rhyming pattern is loose here but I wanted to share it anyway.

"

Yesterday's Call

Stumbling through motions,

Trapped in a cage,

Dormant volcano,

Smoldering rage,

Gun at the temple,

Straining to stay,

Struggling with madness,

But fading away,

Personal demons,

Customized Hell,

Distorted freedom,

Hollowing shell,

Knowing the reasons,

Choosing to lie,

Championing virtue,

To suffer and die,

Frustrated answers,

To questions unasked,

Wilting like flowers,

When summer has passed,

End of an era,

The last act of show,

Abandoned building,

Where cobwebs now grow,

Shadows of summer,

Forgotten by fall,

Lingering sunsets,

Of yesterday’s call
