"

A poem I had to write on a subject that frightens me, mine was death.

"

Is it abyss-

Or, is it the gentle caress,

Of the quite angel of death?

Will I be confined beneath,

In the suffocating earth?

Will the silence consume me,

Before the maggots do?

Is it a descent into lonely madness,

Left to replay your life in fragments?

Will I meet a God,

Or the King of the Dead?

Death could be a beginning,

A cycle that never ends,

Or will there be a place,

That judges me for my sins?

I cannot imagine the darkness,

Or a mindless eternal sleep.

Do I roam the earth forever,

Or be chained to where I meet-

The finale, the end, the final sentence,

Of my existence-

Or do I really exist at all?
