A WRITER'S TRUTH

A WRITER'S TRUTH

A Poem by Eddie Phillips
"

When I first started sharing my writing some people said it was to showboat. It almost made me stop. I have since come to realize what it means to be a writer.

"

Writing is not about ego, it’s not about selfishness or pride
It is not about being smarter or just showcasing what’s inside
Writing is about feeling; it’s about scribing what you see
Writing is about aesthetic meaning; it's desire wanting to be free
Writers believe in hope; they write on pens tempered with faith
They write during utter oblivion because it relieves their inner ache
Many writers are often lonely and only their words can fill the space
They launch words into their void, hoping to fill that empty place
It's never about being popular or being seen for having a gift
It about exposing those hidden pains or giving someone else a lift
Writers give pieces of themselves to this world of broken souls
They encase it inside verse, so others can read and be made whole
It is a very delicate gift and sadly many writers die too young
They give and give to man and receive little love from anyone
So understand that writing is a wondrously humbling thing
Writers give all they have inside to teach others how to dream

Whatever creative outlet you may have in your life some dip s**t is going to come along and diss it. I think you're a good writer and I like reading your work so the next time someone says you're showboating look them dead in the eye and say "Sure. What about it?"

Eddie - I am new to writing. Thank you for the insight. With as little as I have written thus far, I can identify with this write. It makes me feel proud to now be a writer! I hope I can live up to this model!

You indeed humble me as a writer and have captured so much of the essence of a writer's heart! We open our hearts, our souls, our "all" to share with others bits of wisdom, philosophy, advice, our dreams, our pain, our ability to connect to another - this is what I feel you are saying in a very talented way! May we all be able to teach others how to dream!!
Excellent!!

Incredible!

I think you have said it all what makes us write or expressed ourselves in words...
"They write during utter oblivion because it relieves their inner ache' ~ oh, how true is that...

"There are writers...and then there are people that want to write."
This is a clever, creative gem that express what "writers" are about to near perfection!
Fav line: "Writers give pieces of themselves to this world of broken souls" Soo so true.

Thanks for sharing

yeah i can see that...^^
Writing is like music in a lot of ways. There's not one correct method or style to showcase your craft. For some the thought of sharing your imagination is stressful, but then for others no big thing. Where ever you find yourself Eddie, keep doing what you're doing. Yu write in a pleasant way. God bless!

Thank you. I will continue to write what comes to me.
You're much more idealistic about writing than I am.

I may be but great writing can be born from simple ideals. Thank you for reading this poem.

I feel very emotional when I read your pieces, so know that you are doing a great job! I once belonged to a poetry site that I had to pay to be a member of.It made me feel like I had to pay people to relate to me. They were very strict with the way you reviewed and I became stifled and almost quit writing as well. Thank goodness neither of us did. So glad to meet you!Thank you for sharing your words and feelings. It was my pleasure to stop by.

Thank you for taking the time to read my poem. I am happy you enjoyed it and connected with it.
Exactly. I really related to the lines:

They write during utter oblivion because it relieves their inner ache
Many writers are often lonely and only their words can fill the space
They launch words into their void, hoping to fill that empty place

Great write, Eddie.
