Poem #29

Poem #29

A Poem by Elisa

A writer friend asked me a most unusual question. I struggled with my answer. This is what I came up with. In fact I purposefully dodged the question for a long while.

*****

Decadence - love or lust - syrupy sweet
calls to you - bright with heat
Richness of untold measure
Luscious, layers upon layers of complex nature

I want to taste
To take my time - to embrace

To cloak myself in sweetness rare
I am able if I dare

Tears are salty
Confused with seasoned if the the logic is faulty
Savory bites - party delights
or hidden, face buried in my pillow at night

Laughter a sign of joy
Innocence happy smiles - confused with coy
Happiness is worth much by pound
sadness cheap & easy - look around

Anger burning hot & bright
True passion, what a delight
Thoughtful contemplation
Living love - my very elation

Life when lived with gusto
Experiences relished - rubusto
The price per taste - the demand
Be naught but authentic - this is the command.
