Lies.

Lies.

A Poem by Elizabeth Boughner
"

Well I think I have what I want down. Tell me if you think it is alright.

"

Lies, that is what you live for.

The words of your untruths just rolling off your tongue as usual.

They are the food that sustains you.

The very air that you breathe.

The things that keep you happy at night.

But what happens when the very thing that you live for, starts to becoming a tangled mess, wrapping itself so tightly around you that you can no longer breath in those sweet moments of falsehood.

What happens when they gorge you so full you can not stand to force another down your throat?

What happens when the tangled web of lies that you've weaved starts collapsing preventing you from achieving that state of euphoria?

There is only one thing that this will all come down to.

People will begin to see you for who you are.

Maybe they can be your medicine for this disease you have contracted,

and finally cure you.
