Her Last Wish to Genie

Her Last Wish to Genie

A Story by Monster ^.^
"

What do you want? Do you want more than what you have?

"
Jane was a simple girl that wished nothing more than a normal life. And her life was pretty normal until she got a hold of that genie's lamp. It was last week, and she had already spent her first two wishes.

"I wished for 5 dollars." she told her two best friends.

"You idiot! Why not a million? Or a billion?!" Glenn shouted. "Or at least free coupons for everything!"

"Yeah! Why 5 dollars?!" Maggie echoed.

"I don't know." Jane answered, "5 dollars sounded good. I can't buy what I really want with money anyway."

"What do you want?" Her friends asked. She shrugged in reply.

Glenn and Maggie sighed. She then revealed her second wish, "I wished for a best seller book."

Glenn gaped, "A what? A stupid, lifeless thing called a book? You wished for that?!"

"They're not lifeless," Jane muttered, "neither are all of them boring--"

"Then why only one?" Maggie asked, "Why not five, or fifteen, or a hundred!?"

Jane pondered on this, "I don't know... maybe I thought it wouldn't be fair to the author if I didn't really spend time on his or her book."

"That doesn't make sense." Glenn said, "on your last wish, let us decide it for you."

"Yeah!" Maggie added, and at that, Jane rubbed the magic lamp.

[What do you wish for, my owner?]

"Wish for world peace!" Maggie coached.

"No! For your rule!" Glenn forced.

"World peace is for everyone!" Maggie explained.

"But this is her wish! not everyone's!" Glenn exclaimed.

"I wish..." Jane started, and both of her friends stared at her with excitement. What wish was she going to make? They expected something awesome for the last one. "...for three doughnuts."

And the lamp disappeared leaving three doughnuts in its wake. Glenn and Maggie stood transfixed.

"Go on, take one." Jane said with a smile.

This is so sweet the screen got sticky! Great read, grander message in this one!

Three doughnuts is hysterical, but touching....in the very least go for world cruise for three, maybe those were magical doughnuts. You do realize it ends in 'nuts'! ;-)

I love the happiness this girl has despite not having all the material stuff. So simple, yet so blessed. It's great. People like that are awesome. This piece gave me a little bit of hope for some reason. Thank you.

For sure, the more people who are selfless and less materialistic, the better.
