Loss

Loss

A Poem by danielle.

A twist of fate has closed that door
This grief is like a slow decay
I find I'm staring at the floor
Can't lift my eyes though try I may
It's not a space that can be filled
The sadness is consuming me
It seems the cup I held has spilled
I watch its contents drain away

This is an awesomely straightforward description of how it feels to be empty & void becuz of loss. Great rhyme & rhythm, which I always enjoy in a poem. This seems to be about losing SOMEONE (beloved), but it can also be about any kind of loss, loss of freedom, loss of one's world as we used to know it -- two things that come to mind in today's chaotic world (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie

the cup of laughter and happiness spills...and sometimes there is no refilling the cup...we just live with the drained feeling...writing helps.
i really like the metaphor here.

This piece is beautifully penned in classical style. Lovely flow and alternate end rhyme. A poem of loss through a twist of fate. Deeply felt by this reader. Very well done.
