Night’s Wakening

Night’s Wakening

A Poem by danielle.

At first, it was shy creatures of the night,
who tempt me barefoot into silver dark.
Soft rhythm of their sound somehow enjoined,
in keeping with the beating of a heart.

Within a fragile moment they preside,
Pure voices in a concert mine alone.
Whilst solitude finds comfort in sweet song,
that vanquishes blind fears of frights unknown.

Raised buoyant from the privilege I’ve caught,
My gaze is lifted high to distant stars,
as if to right imbalance ‘pon life’s scale …
I’m humbled by my size in equal parts.

Rolls right off the tongue with and ease that matches its distinct melody. First poem I've read of yours and it's already an instant favourite. Will definitely be bookmarked for future enjoyment. Thanks for sharing. Frederick.

Has the sound of one of those mystical moments that are ever-present but usually unperceived by our conscious minds. Sometimes we happen upon them by surprise, maybe with a little assist from nature. A very pleasant offering here.

The piece starts out with eerie expectation and finishes off with a reward of unexpected beauty. I'd call that an appreciated irony. Well done, I enjoyed reading this.

just to be a part of it all...I find myself humbled and grateful as well...
those almost silent moments when I can actually hear my thoughts and feel my heart still beating as I age.
Appreciation for life.

appreciation for this wonderfully thoughtful piece of writing.
