Father

Father

A Poem by MaryP
"

Its a poem about my relationship with my father and God; the piece is about how I feel let down by them both.

"

Father you left me

You chose to run away

You left me alone

Crying in your wake

I truly believed you father

When you promised you’d be there

But I suppose that my burden

Was just too much for you to bare

I watch you love the others

Do you know how much it hurts?

When I wonder why you haven’t stopped

Me being ground into the dirt?

I remember your words brought solace

Your love would heal the pain

But now it seems you’ve left me

With my guilt and hurt and shame

But do not try to blame me

Don’t say that its my sin

You said I should call you father

Convinced me that we were kin

I won’t ever forgive you

Not for peace or my salvation

You broke my heart and lost my trust

There will be no reconciliation

heart breaking work here. Feeling let down and devestated by your Father in both senses. I've felt the same, but then learned to completely depend on God to protect me from my mind, and it's worked fairly well. At least, I think it has. But the way you describe the feeling of loss, hopelessness...
You left me alone
Crying in your wake

Very sad stuff, but very good
I really enjoyed this work

What I like so much about this is that it is composed in the register of a twelve year old child. It is so much stronger and devastating for it! Should such absent fathers read this they will be thunderstruck. Very good too. The last line will knife them in the heart. Great stuff Mary.
