Unsung Heroes

Unsung Heroes

A Poem by MaryP

An everyday hero

A person with a gun

Battling the enemy

Facing the shower of bullets

For his beloved country

No superhero powers

Just pure courage

An everyday hero

A person with a scalpel

Saving so many lives

Giving a second chance

To children, fathers and wives

No superhero powers

Just pure love

An everyday hero

A person with a badge

Walking the beat

Keeping society stable he

Stomps out injustice with his own feet

No superhero powers

Just pure courage

An everyday hero

A person with a child

Making them smile

Teaching them right and wrong

Getting it wrong once in a while

No superhero powers

Just pure love

An everyday hero

A soldier forgotten

A doctor ignored

An officer ridiculed

A parent never restored

No superhero powers

Just pure everyday heroics

Wonderful piece of work. Compelling, incisive and a fantastic subject. A true talent revealed and so refreshingly different. Even though (in the modern way) punctuation is removed. The simplicity of the sentences made this an easy read. I shall cut n paste this store it and punctuate it myself.
