Heart Restored

Heart Restored

A Poem by EmeraldFacet

Where to begin, where to begin

When there seems no end in sight

When all that is revered is meaningless work, incessant chatter and endless plight

She was to others companionate and kind

But to herself she was no friend but foe and never paid any mind

A love sustained by embers shattered on a cold and bitter night

Ruthless winds ignited unforgiving flames of a painful endless fight

Patiently waited trapped underneath the fallen sky

Fearlessly took on the tornado stared it dead in the eye

Through the rubble snuck her way out, swore never to return again, certainly without a doubt

Not a trace, not a stumble, not a fumble, not a clue

Escaped the torment to leave behind the wretched rue

Empty the shell carried on striving to do what was right

Slowly withering away bit by bit and often in plain sight

No interest she felt to ever return

On board a plane is where the story took one hell of a turn

Glimmers and signs were noticed along the way.

Drawn to them strongly, too frayed to risk sitting still and stay

Hidden amongst the world and in others many faces

Breakthroughs and discoveries found her in very peculiar places

Under scorching sun rays and dripping sweat from a brow

Grunt of a camel and the awful scent of a cow

Softness of a kitten and sweet smile of a boy

Perhaps there is possibility to love again an idea to possibly toy

Bruises on scraped knees and aches in frail bones

Above ancient city streets and under cobble of old stones

In shallow rafting waters and flailing wild oars

In the smoothness of hummus and the entrance of blue doors

In the dark of night under the glow of the stars

Collecting specs of giant old ground and storing them in tiny new jars

In the sand of the desert and the sting of sea salt

In every silent tear shed, the battle arrived to a screeching halt

Jerusalem, Jerusalem

You offered your heart to me

During a reign of self destruction

My soul in pain decided to flee

To a place of salvation, a land unafraid

Found solace, security, serenity

That will take a lifetime to be repaid

About
I believe that embers of the past have just enough potential to start a fire in our soul, enableing each one of us to, not become great for ourselves, but rather to do something great for someone else.. more..
