It's been a while

You learnt not to get your hopes up
Things could easily be taken away
You learnt to expect the worst
Cause you thought things wouldn't stay

But then something changed
Things became really great
Cause someone entered your life
And you began to believe in fate

The struggle you had with disappointment
Remained closely in your mind
It felt too good to be true
But that's not what you were going to find

This person was going to be different
They loved all the things about you
They made you feel so special
These feelings all felt new

You expected it to end
To crumble away
But this person surprised you
And showed you the way

You didnt understand it at first
The way this person made you feel
But this person was amazing
And they were the real deal

They wanted to be with you
And share their days and time
They proved it in so many ways
You began to read the sign

All of a sudden it hit you
But the old fear rose again
You were scared to lose them
Surely they would leave, but when

As the years past you realised
This person wasn't going anywhere
They were here to stay always
You became the greatest pair

They supported you in everything
They picked you up when you were down
They showed you how fun life could be
They made you smile instead of frown

You quickly began to notice it
How special this person was
How much you came to love them
You started to smile just cause

As each day went by
Things began to feel right
You felt more and more happy
You were no longer alone at night

It all became clear
You were a perfect match
You fell madly in love
They were an excellent catch.
