Finding Myself

Finding Myself

A Poem by emily joe
"

This is basically how I came to love myself again. In these very words, I was able to come to a point where I appreciated myself. Life is too short to be lost for too long. Enjoy!

"

I once believed in magic, in a world where grass grew green

I once lived in a fairytale, lullabies heard, and miracles seen

I once blew with the wind, fell with the leaves, and into love

I once picked flowers in an empty field, and kissed the clouds above

Until the day I lost myself, in a maze of hide n' seek

The glitter slowly faded, as I washed away like stones in a creek

I put away my smiles, and hid my hugs up on a shelf

You'll never truly live, until you've looked, and found yourself

Wow Emily, you're a better poet than you're a better writer!
I must say I thoroughly loved it, it's magically lyrical and strong and it just says it all very profoundly. Hats off my friend.

Hello Emily Joe,

First allow me to say, bravo. An excellent write with great word use and perfect rhyme. A very enjoyable read.

I wish I could find myself, I mean don't get me wrong, I am well aware of who I am and what I do, but sometimes I just wish there was more. More to everything really. More to life and love, more to the little things we call unique.

Well done.

Always,

Matthew

Great message with some nice poetic language. I'm not sure I appreciate the last stanza as much as I do the first two. I would hope that when I find myself, I wouldn't have to put away my smiles and hide my hugs to do so. Aside from that impression, I really like the flow, meter and rhyme here.

Really amazing. Deep and with such beautiful imagery. And you know, I love the beginning because that describes the things that also make me happy : believing in magic, miracles, be close to nature...
Really amazing Emily. Thanks for sharing !!

Ah, I really loved this, from your intro to the last line, it was beautiful. I think that it is perfect for a mantra for finding yourself. Thanks for sharing. I appreciate it.

Very true. So often we put ourselves away instead of finding and embracing ourselves, but its important.
