death of a loved one

death of a loved one

A Poem by Emily Collins
"

My creative writing society had a mini competition, and the theme was death.

"
I will not cry or mourn my loss
you are the stars that twinkle above
up in heaven you now fly free
and here I stand waiting for thee

The trumpets sound
and doves fly high
a crowd mourns your loss
as I say goodbye.

The flag does not fly,
nor is it high up in the sky
for it is Half-mast.

A flags draped over your coffin,
as your blood did spill,
and you're now on home soil, where you belong.

I know that one day we'll meet again,
but until that time, goodbye my old friend.
