When forthwith a fowl

When forthwith a fowl

A Poem by Emmanuel Olatunji
"

The bringing of beauty and candor by a fairly ordinary fowl.

"
The sky was dour and the earth was dank
Those noisy b******s that wake one up in the morning where nowhere to be found
It was indeed a morning unlike most
The leaves in the trees where still
with an all but stagnant yet chilling breeze
Clouds of mist where on the verge of rolling down the hills,
but remained reluctantly still
Not a single being stirred on that placid and tranquil morning
The earth was all but motionless;
when forthwith a fowl
A feathered creature of the sky settled on the parapet outside
Enveloped in blithesome hues,
the fowl resembled an infantile olive warbler
Flaunting simple browns conflicted and complimented by the vibrant oranges
It was truly an apparition suitably capturing exuberant pulchritude as well as undeniable simplicity
And then it flitted of into the placid mist,
leaving behind a mundane day like any other.
