A Poem by E. Renard Jackson

When a nation fails to deliver upon its promise, none of us are free.

You say that I am your child

or is that just a lie?

You boast of such freedoms,

still, I am a victim of deny.

You wrap yourself mightily

around the red, white and blue,

while failing to remember...

that I am your child too!

I love how you equated the USA and yourself as a parent/child relationship...a damaged one. So much was said in such a short poem.
