Save This Page in Our Book

A Poem by Eric Lee

As the sun rose above the trees,

And birds began their songs,

We joined with them, and hid our tears,

Which we knew would not last for long.

You were on your way,

To a temporary stay,

Where?… I did not care,

Cause I knew I wasn’t there.

My calendar held this date,

But I continued to pray,

maybe time would stop,

Before id have to say…

…”Goodbye my friend,

For only a short while,

Save this page, in our book,

Til you again will make me smile.

For then we can read on,

And enjoy our very own tale,

The journeys that we take,

Down a wide or narrow trail.

Though I’m full of tears,

And have no other concern,

I’m already excited,

For that day when you return.

We will laugh, we will kid,

We will vent, and we will cry,

But for now, ill take up dreaming,

Cause I have to say goodbye…”
