A Poem by jacob erin-cilberto

affair

psssst---------

interruption with arrogance
the conversation of love
paused,
until you walked away,

with your saxophone tones
blues image shattered,
jazzy riffs, conjugal visits
to the ears of trust

but,

now there are voices again
just two,
softly clinging,

and echoed regrets
of you.

The emotion in this is tangible Jacob, when we are young a three week split will feel like forever, and young people will find someone else to fill the empty space in them selves with another because they do not realize, that space can't be filled by another if they are "in love" when a person is "in Love" a warm body will certainly seem like a good idea to ease the pain, but in reality it just makes you feel emptier and probably ruins any chance of trust or reconciliation...and that is what this so eloquently speaks of to me, those regrets one has when trying to replace the irreplaceable.

Affairs often end as one or both parties are cheating on someone else. Not a nice thing for the at home mate to live through alone. Valentine

Those regrets ring the loudest Jacob. The what was and is no more replay no matter the end reason.
Wonderfully expressive words.

Masterpiece! I would say the minimalism really gave this piece the hugeness it deserves.

The bitterness seems to have mellowed to a softness. People make mistakes. Sometimes a bit of excitement is all they need so they can appreciate the good thing they already have. Best wishes and thank you for sharing your thoughts and feelings.

same to you, Firebird, i apprecate those wishes...
Once trust is gone, the relationship can never be the same. You can not put the genie back in the bottle. Still, after it is all over, we remember the good times. Why is that? Why do we choose to torture ourselves? Lots of regret and reflection in this one. Lydi**

I think I can confess to being guilty of, "interruption with arrogance", from time to time. Try as one may, humility is best taught when the nose is broken.
I don't know Jacob, maybe it is better to have even ignorant conversations sometimes than to suffer in silence alone? Then again, sometimes silence is indeed golden. I have tried it both ways and both have times they work and fail.
Still, the last line seems the constant inevitability. There are always, "echoed regrets of you".
It was a pleasure to read your work today!
