Crow's Nest

Crow's Nest

A Poem by jacob erin-cilberto

Crow's Nest

long times,

are by-lines

of scattered stories

of distant hearts

and years marked mostly

by isolation

love's incubation

waiting to be born again

into each other's womb

tears create buoyancy

for emotions,

which become shipwrecked fantasies

and memories

become castaways

praying to see that face,

those eyes,

touch that skin

absorb the warmth

which now reminds

of

long times

not spent together

just

by-lines

and deadlines

of scattered stories

of distant hearts.

How the years strand us on our little islands and how the wishes for lost times become the Zodiac we require to escape and travel back if only for a brief moment. Good one, j.

This is delicious to read. I feel this way about my pen at times...much more often than bygone lovers...which are there too. Very nice.

I understand the below lines.
"become castaways
praying to see that face,
those eyes,
touch that skin
absorb the warmth"
A castaway love. Two people on a secret island. A perfect wish. Thank you Jacob for sharing the excellent poetry.

Aww, those crows feet -- they make me happy when they adorn a smile, and wistful when it's someone we had a history with, who is no longer in our lives. You captured this feeling so well ... definitely a fave.

Do we poets feel more than most? or is it that we simply give flesh to those feelings.

I speak to friends who have never so much as penned a line or picked up a book of poetry in their life and they don't seem any different from me in the way the articulate their thoughts, their feelings, their emotions. And yet often I am left with a sense of incompleteness as I leave, pondering whatever conversation we have had. Wondering how they are not driven as I am to put pen to paper; for without that safety valve, there is for me, no closure.

'Scuse the ramble jacob, 'tis simply the poet within. :))

Beccy.

If isolation is love's incubation, I got me some love that's long since sailed past expiration.
The poet has, at least, some lovely memories--which may magnify his regret--but should also somewhat assuage his grief.
Outstanding poem!

Musical and flowing Jacob. A sad but not mournful piece here. I see this as lines from a diary of memories.

Going back to look at the years of love and passion shared before it was changed and people grew apart. A Beautiful way to describe that kind of journey. Of course, with your words, there are so many other great meanings. It is always a pleasure to read your work.
