the faces, manipulated focus

 

we see what we see

and are what the technology assumes

the real skin a pattern of guilty hues

 

colors that show through the black and white images

reeling from a cold sun

Photos give me such nostalgia, I often wonder how true to form the photo is and the effect of modernity on such things...things seemed so much more innocent back then, guess they always do when time moves on and snaps images in changed tones and styles...makes me ponder on a lot of things...I felt this one Jacob...

What do we see when we look at the old photos in an album? Can we really tell who the people were and the character they had? The camera DOES lie no matter what the old saying tells us. Smiling faces in a photo were not necessarily happy people. The truth is what we want to believe I suppose. You always make me think, Jacob. Lydi**

"the development of truth" has got me off and thinking ... nice title/poem connection .. the old black and whites vs the real colors ...brilliant ...simply brilliant .. and closing on the dread introspective light of a cold sun .. the lens capturing all ...hmmmmm jacob, my friend ...do find a good reason to laugh out loud today!! ;))

Brilliant Jacob! We don't see that innocence because maybe it doesn't exist anymore. It has been manipulated out of focus. Out of the picture. And all that remains are the guilty hues. Loved it.

the reality and truth of who we are... we maybe caught in an instance in time, but we change, as the world around us changes... our understanding of everything also changes as we (if we use good methods, science) interact with the world around us... but the real test of who we are and will become is found mainly in our deeds that can be caught in black and white or in the videos of today.. introspection is worthwhile, but needs more if it is to accurately photograph who we have become, over time, frame by frame..

you amaze me Jacob in your ability to write such wonderful poems that get me to delve into the mystery of your metaphors and imagery... your poetry keeps me engaged, thank you..
