Priceless Junk

Priceless Junk

A Poem by jacob erin-cilberto

Priceless Junk

you were sadly expensive

a greedy relevance in my life

until the funds ran out

as well as the fun,

smiles, and a heart's trust

is free, until we can't get it back

then it becomes a rare artifact

auctioned off to another,

and we count the emotions we have left

realizing,

love has priced itself out of

range

in counterfeit posture.

You cannot unlearn that bitter truth but it's better to find it out and be broke than have a leach on your arm.

heart's trust is free...probably the most expensive thing in the world..how beautifully the emotion gets mixed up with the ink..as usual that's why visiting your page is always a profound experience...thanks for sharing with us

my pleasure :)
I can tell when a poem is priceless by how bad it hits you in the gut. I can relate to the whole work and it reminds me of terrible time in my life when I didn't believe in love or trust at all. Those feelings were relics. Being used is always unpleasant and I think I have never seen it expressed in such a poetic way. Great vocab and flow. Have a good day, Jacob. CD

I think this could hit home for a lot of people. Caught my attention and I'm glad I gave it a read, a few times I might add.

While I hope life has no price. I have to admit the things were are led to hold into in life become anchors in later years. I myself have been going through a period of getting rid of junk. The things we value often hold no value to our heirs or friends. They would likely get rid of them if they inherited them. Best to not fall in love with things. Better to love people as I’m sure you do.

worste thing ever is to come up short at the cash register ...but hey...it can save a man a whole lot more trouble if he gets out soon enough to save a few of those invested treasures

I especially like the title; those words have a personal meaning for me. But also since I like fooling around with words so much, the clash of "priceless" and "junk" makes sense. (I was complaining one day to my husband about not being published and he said: Is your writing priceless or worthless?)

I forgot to thank you for your kind words about the poem Lauds. Much appreciated.
I love this! So relevant and an epiphany of a conclusion to come to.. we ought to all be introspective enough to come to grips with.. alas, it's usually in hindsight that we encounter such truth. Thank you for speaking to this!
