a casket full of roses

a casket full of roses

A Poem by jacob erin-cilberto

a casket full of roses

a formidable charmer

the nape of your neck

interacting with my fingers

eyes reaching deep within

we kissed away full moons

which seemed within our adolescent grasp

i lassoed your scent

with my imagination

and then fell into a chasm of foolish engagement

all the while betrothed to the idea

that old car's heater

would warm us into eternity

even after our lips grew cold.
