A Poem by jacob erin-cilberto

sequels supposed

fictional characters
my lovers
figments of imagination
felt so real,
touched skin, i am sure
or maybe touched mind
devised
your eyes
the deep brown orbs
floating into my heart

is there a true/false
logic to love
or is empathy a chapter
unwritten in the real world

are emotional plots
full of embedded roses
or just the thorns that adorn
stemming the tide of feelings
from page to page
until only the epilogue
shows hint of breath

and lasting love is merely
a phrase used on the novel's sleeve
to promote
the next book

always to be
the next book.
