interesting lines in this piece. "I . . . love you for what I think you are." self-deception or honest acknowledgement? " I don't want to know . . . essay of you." Again, don't get in my way of relating to you . . . don't try to change my mind with the true reality of you! Even beyond that I don't want my heart involved . . . it's just to difficult to deal with. This speaker seems tired of life . . . and just wants occasional eros to know he's still alive. Again, a melancholy poem, a sense of self-imposed exile.

That's unbounded passion...that "whatever I shall do I shall do unconditionally"...not the easiest of things to do...unpleasant incidents and bitter truths sneak in to impose certain conditions...but that's the fun of it...how one stays free of them all and goes on...unbridled
I always said I wanted to know the whole truth.....all of it....until I saw the whole truth. Now I know it's so much easier to love blind.

My father once said women marry men hoping to change them, and men marry women hoping they’ll never change. Perhaps some truth in his statement, though we can see it play out on both sides. Too bad we don’t see it sooner.

thank you for your insight, R.E.
Some people, the more you know them, the less easy it is to love them. In such cases, I can understand how your narrator draws certain lines to keep a situation manageable. I, on the other hand, do not have much self-restraint, so it's best for me not to tolerate someone, trying to love on principle only! I love how you deliver equal measures gentleness & bluntness (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie

this was the downfall of both my marriages , they loved me for what they wanted me to be .... but when i would not morph into their dream person it just didn't bode well.
Always true to myself and if others see me differently .. well, i am afraid this lady has no revision to make either lol.

beauty is in the eye of the beholder and one mans meat is another mans poison... some times, and for a variety of reasons we make the wrong choices and yet in spite of all the warnings and signs, we run with it blindly.... maybe... Whether wrong or write.... this is a great little post jacob

One person's perception of someone is not always the same as another's. Everyone is flawed, it just depends on what we view as significant and choose to turn a blind eye to. Acceptance is important in love but sometimes overlooking too much is a dangerous thing and can lead to an unhealthy and unbalanced relationship. Love is truly blind in some cases. :) You always hope it's in a good way though. Just my thoughts, as always, I enjoyed.
