A Poem by jacob erin-cilberto

no revision accepted

spare me the incidentals
i don't care....
yes, i care about you
and love you for what i think you are

aside from that, i don't want to know
my truth is a generalized essay of you
specifics be damned

i will read you as i deem
you are my improbable dream

and the little lies
won't to me compromise

what i intend to feel
regardless of the details
that may congeal
my heart

into nothing
but a viscera's part
of a closed eye.

There is such clarity and determination in the poet’s voice here, as he pushes away the inconsequential to focus on his deemed dream. A dream he knows is too good to be true but still goes ahead to nurture out of sheer love. Acceptance is a beautiful thing in love. It joins, unifies and brings peace till the ugly little gremlins of specifics begin to gnaw it all away. Loved it Jacob!

Most welcome Jacob.
A most dramatic and poetic way of saying 'I will accept you as you are!'
No one could say it better Jacob as you wrap it up in flowing freeverse with poignancy.
