never get the size quite right

never get the size quite right

A Poem by jacob erin-cilberto

never get the size quite right

spit shined heart shoes

can you see the pain reflected up

toward your sky

and do you understand the reason why

i am so polished

at loving you

the shoes still fit

and so do you at times

but the laces are loose

and this turbulent attraction

will trip me sooner or later

and then,

my head might be as concussed

as the heart

on which i have fallen.

Signs of growing older
I still lover her but the fire is damped down
Golden tresses are now silver but they still shine in the sun
we dont break into a run
Just walk gently over rough ground

Shine shoes and love deflated. Wonderful use of words and thoughts.

The above lines, real life logic. Thank you Jacob for sharing the amazing poetry.

You are welcome Jacob.
Need more time barefoot in the lush soft grass my friend ... but can see where you are coming from! Nice poetic reflection of 'having to work' in a long term relationship to keep the 'mojo' fresh - bless... :-)

holes in my pocket...holes in the soles of my shoes...but the only hole that's set apart...is the hole you left in my heart.
pain reflected in patent leather shoes is still pain...and though those shoes are slung to the back of the closet, every now and then we like to pull them out and think of all the miles and smiles...try them on...only to find the fit is no longer right and the shine has dulled and faded.

A good write, j.

Seems to me the shoes have lost a bit of their grip with time but the wearer has good intentions. True that the laces come loose but the risk is worth it. A concussed head is better than a lonely, empty heart.

not everything is a perfect fit. sometimes you let things in, sometimes you let things out
it almost becomes a custom fit. and over time you stop tripping and falling
which is a shame, because half the fun is in having someone catch you :)

Woooohoooooo!!!! This is effing fantastic. That first line has all my faves, shoes, hearts and spit. Shoes in a poem is always symbolic to me ie check out my poem The Last Pier Dance. Love lost is never love lost as long as you have the heart shoes!
