driven mad by the quills of the dead

driven mad by the quills of the dead

A Poem by jacob erin-cilberto

driven mad by the quills of the dead

this time of night

the spontaneous shadows

of a half-lit moon

drunkenly heave their light

in arched bows

on a half-lit loon

making odd syllabic sounds

in a pond of candle flame

and the eerie combination abounds

to spew words of ghostly blame

Burning the candle in the midnight hour, will not bring perspective. At that time of night, the mind runs riot. I am sensing and feeling chaotic thoughts, all over the place. The ghosts of the dead are alive at night.

Indeed the night, when alone within its belly, presents us with demons if they are within us. In this case it seems the protagonist might be struggling with their own abilities and feel less able than those poets that are so admired and noted.

In old age, shadows of people and things leave us haunted. Thank you Jacob for sharing the amazing poetry.
