sky writing

A Poem by jacob erin-cilberto

sky writing

my bones are rising through the dust of memory

gravestones with familiar names ossify

I hear clearly as words slip through skeletal lips

and then the quiet comes

the skin of night grows in mandible montage

there is a newsreel of sorrow's silence

i remember them all,

and their hearts are buried with mine

               together.

     rise

we

thank you for your kind words, Bb,

the past has a way of haunting us. try as we may to bury it, that newsreel revives it. even when we think its dead and buried, there is another feast of oh so many things, sucking a little more life from us all each time. a fascination with airing dirty laundry ... :)

You are right Jacob.
"i remember them all,
and their hearts are buried with mine"
Life is a circle. Seem, we found the place, we must be. Thank you for sharing the wonderful words and thoughts.

You are welcome my friend.
As the years go by the list grows longer.
Some come through out of the blue, most you remember at the end of the year.
But life goes on in the present.
The past eventually catches up with us all.

yes, it does, Paul...yes it does.
thank you,

this has the air, taste and taint of a solitary reflection.. so very sad, and believe me, my head is filled with such recollections ... I am right there with you jacob.... exquisitely poemed sorrow sir & no mistake.

dear Jacob... our past memories come to life in dreams...
we search for wisdom, but too many are not worried about
Wisdom... they are only drowning in their own ambition with
no hope for future generations or even the present time...
not even tomorrow. truly, Pat

This is excellent, and quite a diff style from your usual pieces.
This is more surreal, which I like

the diction rings "ossify" "skeletal" "mandible"

And the ending is great.

Visual (I did something similar in the 1st part of "the unholy trilogy")

You should write more poems like these. But hey, I'm just being selfish here lol

Great piece. Rare 100/100 and library for me.

Might be the most powerful piece I have read here! So many layers, soft, beautiful, eerie and raw.

Really, really loved this one J!

A message from someone who has passed...or more than just one. We gaze at the sky and try to figure out the message they are sending...the advice they are giving us. It is as if they are with us again....till the night ends and they are gone again. We remember them....and through us they live on. Beautifully emotional. Lydi**
